Consecutive numbers! MLW M-420s CN #2528 and 2527 as well as SD40 5073 lead a westbound freight thru the Junction. It is a rather misty and sticky morning. The 420s, built in the mid-1970s, were renumbered to the 3500 series in 1986/87. They're all off the CN roster now, as is the fleet of SDs, but the old MLW workhorses can still be found in all parts of the continent working out their days on various shortlines.
I see the sumac, an annoyance for photographers in later years, is taking foothold on the hillside.
My notes indicate this train had 86 cars and van 79635 on the rear. And last; every time I see that old wooden Bayview sign (on extreme right) I keep wondering just where it ended up. Not in my garage, where it should be.

  1. Some old railfan probably has their trailer parked on it…

  2. Everywhere you look, there seems to be a humorous Smith.
