Caption: CN's Spadina Roundhouse is seen looking down from the CN Tower. The usual variety of power is visible including CN zebra-striped FP9's and FPA4's, S13 switchers for the coachyard, RDC cars and even a GP40 by the roundhouse. Steam generator cars and piggyback flats also populate the tracks nearby. The tracks to the right is the Toronto Terminals Railway corridor leading to Union Station, and to the right of that are boxcars spotted at CN's downtown team tracks and loading platforms. The CN Tower parking lot below was built over part of this area. The "Loop Track" where passenger equipment and consists were turned is visible around the bottom of the roundhouse.
In the upper left corner are CN's Stores buildings (note all the wheels), coach repair and paint shop facilities, as well as the "High Line" (bypass tracks) just in the corner (the Gardiner Expressway is further out of frame). Spadina Avenue overpass (where a lot of railfan photos of Spadina have been taken from over the years) is just out of the picture across the top.
Today, this view would be of the Skydome (Rogers Centre) that was built on the site of Spadina Roundhouse in the late 80's.

Now when you look down or around it’s all condos.
I miss that view. I always thought they looked like model trains when I was a kid. Probably the reason I got into the hobby. Very nice Bill!
No one visiting the area today would ever imagine any of this ever existed here.
