Caption: CN SD50F 5437 is shown with a sister unit at Jasper AB in July 1986, a little less than a year old.
5437 was one of 60 units manufactured by GMD London between 1985 and 1987 for CN based off the standard SD50 model, but with a full-width enclosed cowl body and a "Draper Taper" behind the cab for rearward visibility (named after the employee at CN who designed it). This design first debuted on CN's Bombardier HR616 order in 1982, and over the years CN would go on to order GMD SD50F, SD60F, and GE C40-8M models with this feature, until switching back to orders with conventional hoods in the mid-90's. The SD50F fleet would run until 2008 when they were retired. Some would be resold to a short line, but most were sold for scrap.
