Caption: CN L568 crawls through Baden with a pair of vintage zebra GP9RMs and small cut of cars for industries in New Hamburg. Due to extreme flooding near Shakespeare, L568 turned back at Waterloo St that day.
CN 4125 is a very interesting unit. As far as I can tell, it is either the oldest or 2nd oldest engine on CNs roster, built March 1955. There is 1 older GP9RM (who's number escapes me) but it was last seen 5 years ago as a hump unit in Edmonton. Who knows if it's still active lol. If anyone has more info about CNs roster, feel free to comment below!

Sweet, no footprints in the snow anywhere, yet, you’re right by the crossing. Excellent shot Issac.
Waterloo st was east of you in this picture. So if they turned back… it would have been at Shakespeare. All those cars are for Kellys probably.
Great photo! Love the angle. As a station guy….have to mention where the CTC signal is to the left of the engine, is approx. where the old train station used to be for Baden. Petersburg (preserved), Baden and Shakespeare were all of similar design. As for this and surrounding area, the Steinman’s have a deep rooted history as my great grandfather worked for the CNR out of Kitchener.
Feb.18th and that looks like a case of water, or, case of ice cubes. lol.
I was able to walk through a plowed parking lot most of the way to my spot, hence the lack of footprints.
Steve, I was in Baden. The Waterloo St Signal is in New Hamburg, 2.5ish miles to my west. They couldn’t have run around their train in Shakespeare due to the flooding.
Thanks for the kind words guys!
I’m almost certain these hoppers are for Pestell in New Hamburg. The washout was indeed east of Shakesphere so I doubt they ran around there. They likely just made a shove move to Baden and ran around there. Don’t think they can gravity drop on CN so there goes that option.
Aha i was confusing Sturm for Waterloo St
Most of their train was for Pestell. They also had a tanker for the Alpine solutions place off Nafziger and one more 3-bay hopper behind. I have no idea where the last hopper was going but it was much more modern then the BN hoppers visible in the shot.
Masterfeeds in Stratford also gets cars and SMI and a fertilizer place used to get cars in Shakespeare.
