CN L501 approaches Pauline Johnson Road with CN 5711 and CN 5654. The crew was running at a blistering 15mph and being long hood forward would have made for a very long run to Sarnia.

  1. Very nice clean image. I’d read somewhere (can’t remember where) that 501/502 had been abolished. Clearly not. Any idea why they were running so slow ? Great circumstances for a chase.

  2. I imagine they’d get track speed on the dundas and strathroy.

  3. Bruce, they were abolished due to issues on the line. With those resolved for the time being it is back. They were doing 15mph due to the cold and OCS I believe. Then track speed on the Dundas as far as I’m aware. Still a long trip to Sarnia LHF!

  4. I kept thinking it was just the one SD75I I’ve been shooting with the unpainted door, but my mind is blown to realize there are two

  5. I take it 6 axles not permitted on the wye at Caledonia?

  6. Or the crew didnt care to turn it.

  7. The wye in Caledonia is not in service for locomotives anymore. They want to remove it.
