Caption: CN had unveiled its 'CN North America' paint scheme in mid-1992, which was designed to promote the company’s expansive Canada to Mexico transportation network with their BN-FNM partnership into Mexico at the time. While the classic noodle logo remained, it was placed on a grey map designed to replicate North America. The first units to receive the paint scheme were CN’s newly rebuilt SD40u’s in the 6000 series, as well as 25 new Dash 8-40CM 2400's that were delivered new in the livery from GE in November-December 1992. Then in 1994-1995, CN’s new Dash 9-44CW’s 2500-2522 had also arrived with the CNNA map scheme. As well hundreds of other CN units were repainted into the colours including; GP40-2L(W)’s, SD40’s, SD40-2(W)’s, while four-axle units received a slightly modified version when they were repainted minus the grey map. However, a year later in 1995, when CN’s new SD70I’s were released from GMDD in London they had a modified scheme with a just a large CN noodle on the long-hood that no longer featured the CNNA map. Here CN 9427 and 9482 are seen on a sunny evening awaiting a return trip back to Toronto at the Kitchener, Ontario yard. The pair are both still adorned in their CNNA schemes, some 27 years after its debut. The units had arrived overnight on A431 after once again stalling on the big grade near Acton on the Guelph Subdivision. This had resulted in them laying over in Kitchener as there was no time for the crew to return to MacMillan yard that night.
