Caption: CN 666-01, which is a Fairmont Tamper model W113-E26 dual spike puller that was built earlier during 1996 follows the CN rail train and is seen at the King Street crossing in the town of Palmerston, Ontario. Earlier that day, the rail train had gone through the former railway town for the last time and was powered by CN GP9RM’s 4115 and 4140. During April 1996, CN had removed the last sections of the Newton and Owen Sound Subdivisions that remained between Harriston and Stratford.

This (at the time) brand new machine CN 666-01 is a Fairmont Tamper model W113-E1-26 dual spike puller, serial number 257090, built in early 1996. I last saw this unit, looking very well used, at CN’s Mac Yard work equipment complex in Concord, ON January 30, 2020. It’s always nice to see the Work Equipment side of railroading captured in an RP photo post.
