CN 4016 on it's side with 4578 and below that is 4515 with 3641 on the bottom of the heap after a nasty derailment caused after hitting a low boy trailer on the crossing of Nash Road.

It was quite an adventure for me getting there to see the wreck. Just a few months shy of my drivers licence I took the bus all the way from Dundas to Nash Road in the east end of Hamilton and I did not even know where Nash Road was. The HSR drivers were very helpful and after paying 35 cents and several transfers later I found Nash Road.
Image is from a Instamatic print that is deteriorating and did not scan well.

  1. I remember you telling me about your day excursion to see this.
Correct – Sarnia-bound train 489. The 3641 was retired Aug 27 from this event and basically cut up and buried on site ( I wonder if it’s beginning to surface now..?).
We think 4578 got repaired using the frame of previously retired 4116.
Detours involved using the Beach Sub between Burlington and Stoney Creek plus the Dunnville Sub.
I was told Aldershot Equipment, owner of the flatbed which was unauthorized to be using this crossing, were driven out of business after the lawsuit was settled.
