CN 2143, 2400 and 8804 lead grain empties through Swan Landing Alberta. This shot has been on my "to do" list for years. Yet every time I've attempted it, its either been dark and cloudy with a parade of trains, or beautiful sunlight with no train anywhere to be seen. But if at first you don't succeed…..

  4. Great shot, nice lashup too.

  5. Stellar.

  6. Matt, what a glorious picture ! Stunning scenery and love the reflection in the calm water – so well done.
Beautifully sums up, “Rocky Mountain railroading “.

  7. Just looking at this photo over again. Despite the great positive comments, it is very underappreciated, in my humble opinion.

  8. He’s right. In all honesty, the site was a very competitive (busy) place in 2015…. plus.. time.. right? time ages some photos better and this should be printed, framed, and put on a mantle.

It regularly shows up on the ‘top photos’ front page lists – a well earned distinction and will continue to climb as the years pass..

  9. That’s a calendar shot!

  10. Thanks for the kind remarks guys.
