What was being hauled in the Algoma Central cars?
I’m thinking it might be steel slabs for the Erectors, Inc building that was around the bend to the right.
One of the few rail/childhood memories I can recall is my dad telling me about this and showing me where it happened.
Witnessed a few trains in this area in the 80′s growing up, but never saw one with a GMD-1. Great catch!
Thanks, Paul. I think of all you local guys when I post this stuff. ) Those GMD-1s were around a very short time, and I rarely saw them wandering.
Those Algoma Central gons are a treat. Saw one a couple times least year around this time in tie service.
Yeah, James, those gons are something I took for granted and then one day, like most other railroad stuff, I realize they are gone. Oh to have had digital back then and thus the means to photograph everything………
