Classic modern CP station. I really have little information on it; despite the fact it is modern and rather sturdy looking, I believe it does not any longer exist. Not even sure of the exact map location. Some input would be appreciated if anyone has been thru this rather out of the way area lately. The fact it is so close to the dilapidated looking (in comparison)station that existed in Nipigon at the time makes me look back wondering why this structure was even necessary. Close by was the CN station, another boxy looking building. CN and CP were forced by the landscape to run side by side as they left town eastward.

  1. I wish I was alive then…so many stations are gone from the landscape. Unfortunately, my love really didn’t ignite until I read the Spec article at the end of 1994 where both Grimsby and Merriton stations were destroyed by fires within days of each other.

Look forward to meeting the person behind these historic photos tomorrow :)

  2. Interesting how the lettering looks like that of the White River station. Do you have any pics of the station at Hillsport and would it still be there?

  3. first: Todd: It was great to meet you. I am really impressed with your station artwork. and Brad: I did not ever see the station at Hillsport. But that does not mean it does not exist. It may have been converted to a residence. Perhaps Todd has the answer?

  4. Arnold: Thank you re: artwork. And likewise. It was an enjoyable day…especially the chase! :D Photos turned out pretty good too.

Brad: No idea if Hillsport still exists. I have only seen a photo of the station in Ian Wilson’s books (series) of Steam Through Northern Ontario…style at Hillsport was same style of original Sudbury Jct. station….hope this helps in meantime?
