Built by GMD in 1952 and with a CN Class of GR-12-a, it and her 1200 HP sisters 901 and 902 were the first of the type to arrive in Newfoundland to start replacing the Mikado and Pacific steam engines still operating on the Island’s narrow gauge railway.
