Caption: Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway (CBNS) C630M 2035 and leased GATX GP40G 3080 bring a heavy Goderich-Exeter Railway (GEXR) train into Stratford, Ontario on February 6, 1994. The winter of 1993-1994 was a brutal one for GEXR’s fleet of second-hand GP9’s and by early February, most were either out of service or severely ailing. Cold winter weather and daily battles with squalls coming-off Lake Huron had proven too much for the veteran GP9’s, so RailTex turned to sister railway CBNS for help. The east coast shortline sent big MLW 2035 which operated between Stratford and Goderich for a couple weeks to help alleviate GEXR through their motive power crunch. In the end, 2035 would fare no better and would eventually be sent back east dead and in need of required repairs.

Awesome. We never braved the winter weather to see the CBNS MLW on the GEXR.
And to think that BN Green would happen a few more times…
Thanks for the comments guys.
