Caption: Cando Contracting SW8M 1002 and SW1200 1003 are seen switching the Invista plant coupled nose-to-nose, at Millhaven, Ontario. Invista was fibre manufacturer, formerly KOSA and before that Celanese. Their Millhaven plant, located 10 miles west of Kingston, ceased production in April 2000 and was demolished in 2013.
Invista was located on CN's Millhaven Spur, 1.5 miles in from the Kingston Sub switch at Mile 186.6. CN switched the plant for many years, but Cando was later contracted to do the job. With Invista gone Cando continues to do contract switching for the neighbouring Coco Paving asphalt plant.
According to the CTG, CCGX 1002 was originally built as Lehigh Valley SW8 in September 1951, and CCGX 1003 was originally built for the Pennsylvania Railroad as SW1200 7921. Both were acquired by Cando from dealer Andrew Merrilees in 1996.
