Canadian Pacific N2b-class 2-8-0 3722 is shown at Port McNicoll, during a steam excursion stopover. This engine would later become the last CPR steamer to leave Port McNicoll a little over a month later on April 30th 1960, the final day of regular freight steam service on the CPR. 3722 was scrapped a few months later in September of 1960.The steam excursion that day featured Royal Hudson 2857 operating from Toronto to Port McNicoll - I recall this excursion as being on a very dull winter day, and on the runpasts in some areas sinking into the lineside snow up to my hips. Also photographed that day at Port McNicoll was 2-8-0 3632: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=21826

  1. What is most amazing is that this terminal was 100% all-steam until the end. 3422, 3632 and 3722. In that pre-Internet era this fact was little known by most railfans due to its off-the-beaten track location.
