Canadian National's route through Milton can be traced back to its Branchline routes when it was part of the North & northwestern RR operating between Port Dover and Allandale as well as a line to Collingwood. CN' s take over of the bancrupt N&NW in the 1920s would lead to gradual abandonment of most of the lines except for the section between Burlington West and Georgetown. This section would become part of the new route to CN's new Mac Millian yard in North Toronto. The old yard in Mimico by this time was too small and too congested. In Milton the old N&NW route was relocated to the towns west side and it was also elevated to avoid congestion in town. The old station in town was saved and relocated when the original right of way through town was downgraded. Abandonment of the old line through town came in the 1980s. Here we see CN train 332 on the new elevated section passing the relocated station.
