Canadian National N-1-C class 2-8-0 2447 (built by Canada Foundry in 1917, originally of Canadian Northern lineage) sits at Mimico in 1954. Diesel locomotives had been making inroads into Canadian railroading for a number of years (GMD was now building brand new FP9's and GP9's when this photo was taken), but regular steam service still hung on a few years more before the last fires were put out. 2447 herself only had a little under 3 years left, being scrapped in July of 1957 at age 40.
