Caption: Canada's Finest. Ever since I was a child I have always been spellbound by the elegance of Canadian Pacific's small but notable fleet of F Units. Since I first saw photographs of the Royal Canadian Pacific in Greg McDonnell's 'Stand Fast Craigellachie' many years ago, I have always wanted to photograph these units for myself. Finally, after years of waiting I was given my chance to photograph this remarkable set of locomotives. In a pastoral scene not too far away from the hustle and bustle of Toronto's many suburbs, train 40B rushes towards London with a photogenic lash-up and notable passengers on board. Upon receiving news that this train was coming through, I didn't hesitate to go through a little extra effort to get the shot I wanted. In this case, it was clinging from the top of a tree. I was originally gonna shoot at this location, but remembering the telephone poles in the way me and a few friends decided to go just a few crossings down to Milburough Line.

Ryan, a classic picture at a well known location. I stood at the same spot 61 years ago taking 8mm movies of double headed west bound freight train. Other than that bright red box car, this could be CPR #21 headed for Windsor before being replaced by RDC’s. And as for the phone poles, they , along with the pond, were there in 1959, and have always been part of this beautiful location. Thank you for posting.
