By the summer of 2003 EMD power was getting rare on CP west of Calgary. The 9700 series of GE built AC4400s were some of the newest motive power on the roster. At Chase a pair of 9700s await their next assignment on a siding while a grain train can be seen sitting in the distance. It was unclear to me this day if these two AC4400s were to be used as head end power or DPU on their next train.

  1. In addition to my train photo hobby, I also like to catch unusual numbers or number combinations of engines or equipment. Great luck for you to find the 9700 waiting for you to come and take its picture. Nice find and photo Marcus. :-)
