  1. This is probably a London bound train, although it is not displaying white flags as an extra. There were two morning schedules, 903 & 937 & the dispatcher may have run this job on one of those. London bound van hops from Toronto yard in that era were either an acid train or the “OOD”. Both of those were lifted at Lambton Yard. David, when it comes to a “disappointing sight at the time”, I feel the same way now about my railway career back then. In this era of DPUs, & a gazillion GE locos..What I’d give to go back to the days of vans,van hops, snowplows et al, if only for a day.
