Believed to be the westernmost industrial railway operation in Canada (there were earlier logging lines on Haida Gwai), Prince Rupert Grain built a terminal on Prince Rupert harbour and alongside CN’s Skeena sub. For switching loads and empties, in 1981 they acquired a 1955-built ex-Southern Pacific ALCo S-6 numbered (on paper, no external mark) 1219, as seen Monday 1981-10-05. When expanding export terminal business for several commodities developed near Prince Rupert on Ridley Island, Prince Rupert Grain built a new terminal there in 1984, and the original site appears to be a wood pellet terminal now.

    Ken, that is right up at the top of the list of rare and obscure locomotives seen on rail pics.
