Caption: Because it is the rural countryside, I like to call this location, looking west off the Seventh Av Louth bridge, by the name of Lincoln, although I am actually standing inside the city of St. Catharines limits. The boundary is just behind the train.
Anyway, seeing these two CSX units leading Amtrak the night before as it was Toronto bound was something of a shock. And I had high hopes the same combo would come back the next day, and it did.
At the time, I was working. Or rather, scheduled, but we happened to have gone on strike and I was walking the line.
Near train time, I took a few orders for coffee and off I went. Picked up the train in Hamilton and followed it down to St. Catharines station; grabbing a few pics on the way. It was nearly 3 hours by the time I got back to the lines with the coffee. It was hot, I bought it right around the corner from where I was working, on the way back.
The only people that missed me were the ones waiting patiently for coffee. I will admit they were concerned. But it was a great morning out, and so here is CSX 2762, 2804, Amtrak 823 as #97. Never did find out what the problem with the AMTK unit was, but I certainly enjoyed the time away from the misery of a picket line.

Awesome, I vaguely remember hearing that this had happened but photographic proof was harder to come by in those days.

Oh…you’re sinking, Young Mr. Smith. I looked at the pic, had forgotten about it…..but it is a nice one. I’m wondering if I phoned Bill about this train …..when I call him it saves me a fortune in long distance calls (back then) as he was the “network” at the time.
) I would hang up the phone assured that everyone would get a message.

awmooney, any reason if you recall why there was CSX power?
Apparently there was a problem en route to Canada so CSX power was added to take the train thru to Toronto and return to the US.
