Back when CN had a 72-hour work block per track to lower the tracks under Merritt St Bridge, Trillium was helping out with the Ballast cars. There were detours for Trillium to head onto the Grimsby Sub to Clifton onto the CN Stamford Sub to Port Robinson onto Robbins West and the CP Hamilton Sub to Feeder and back on their trackage.

TRRY 110 and 108 worked at Merritton in May of 2001.

  1. Holy crap, Trillium detours to clifton and Robbins? Dean do you or anyone else have shots of this? I’d love to see them…

The ballast cars are cool enough – what did trillium do to help out with them?

  2. Trillium switched the ballast cars out of Merritton Yard during the construction period. At that time the Thorold Sub turnout was temporarily removed and had no access to the Grimsby Sub

  3. Steve , here’s the one shot I’ve seen of said detours. http://www.niagararails.com/stamford-trains.phtml?id=512&page=10

  4. Very nice.

  5. Thanks Martin. I spent many many hours browsing that site back in the early 2000′s…..

Glad that Paul Duncan continues to run it – hope he’s here too! Thanks Paul. Great website.
