Caption: Back in September 1993 CN completed a large-scale bridge replacement west of Paris on the Dundas Subdivision. This resulted in CN rerouting trains not only on their Guelph Subdivision, but also detouring across Canadian Pacific’s Galt Subdivision for several days. In the west, the trains would begin their journey to the Galt Subdivision through the interchange track at Woodstock then onto the CP St. Thomas Subdivision for a short stretch before reaching the Galt mainline. CN 380 is viewed waiting to proceed on this route with 9614, 2038 and 9664 on September 15, 1993.

Very cool and very rare. I don’t think much of this track exists.. some of it.. but the CN side was removed when they re-did bridge work some years ago.
Thanks for the comment Steve.
I’ve seen photos of CN and CP interchanging Cami traffic here in the 80′s. Also, if there were hot cars left there by CN, occasionally they were lifted by mainline trains. I think this wasn’t as common but it did occur. In 1995, we shot a CP eastbound that went down with a SD40-2 and an HLCX unit to lift two boxcars left by CN.
Wild it was used as an interchange that late in the game. CN and CP have certainly rationalized interchanges in the area (woodstock, Galt, Tillsonburg, etc)
Wow, wouldn’t have expected full road trains to use that track. Rare indeed. Where would these trains return to CN rails?
If I remember correctly the CN detours took the Galt Subdivision as far as West Toronto then got back on their own rails from there. It was over the duration of three days as well.
