Caption: Back in 1977 when on rather warm and windy Sunday I decided to check out stations in Tillsonburg (my back still aches when I hear that word) I was rather surprised to find there were still FOUR stations in town. A CN, a CP, PC and Tillsonburg Jct. This CN was an easy find, a couple of blocks off the main drag of Broadway Av., NW of downtown. The station looked as though it was in a state of mournful dejection, but, recovery eventually did come to Tillsonburg North, and today it thrives as an Art Centre. Whats more, the old CP station was relocated next door to it. This image cries for a 'time machine' duplication, but it is much easier said than done. Everything has changed in the past 40 years. I tried to duplicate this shot last fall but parked cars were all over and rendered duplication almost impossible. For the railroad is long gone from here, and is now Bridge St. West. Tillsonburg is a nice place. Bustling. That little rickety bridge in the background of this shot carried the traffic of what is now the busiest street in town, Broadway. Today looking down there you see a 4 lane roadway, plus parking, and a huge Canadian Tire!
