Great photo of a classic locomotive Arnold. In all my years of railroading at CN and since, the GMD-1 is my favourite model of locomotive. It looked good in any paint scheme. The only thing that would make this one look any better (in my mind) would be the dual snorkel spark arrestor exhaust stacks that were CN specific.

I was on a trip west visiting family (Turner Valley) and was short of time to get back East to work, but made a “minor” detour because I figured I just HAD TO see something on the NAR.
Unfortunately, when I was young I was like most all others thinking not only was I invincible, I thought everything ‘was always going to be there’.
Alas; we know what happened to the NAR.
