Caption: At the Elk Falls Division pulp mill at Duncan Bay on Vancouver Island, Crown Zellerbach had a rail-barge connection from the BC mainland, and for many years their yard was switched with a Shay steam locomotive. For the occasion of the presentation of the Shay to the Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa, all railway equipment was cleaned up, including Baldwin VO-1000 7128 which previously worked CZ’s Nanaimo Lakes log haul, and it is seen here switching the mill on Saturday 1974-09-14 after the presentation ceremonies were over.
