At Kellys - Showing off the latest GEXR motive power 516 is reaching inward to lift 17 empties at Agro-Mart near Belton, Ontario, and will leave 17 loaded cars behind. The loop track at this company looks right at home on any model railway. Note, for those who have been here, the concrete silos are now demolished.

  1. SL & A ??? Whatever. It is still Orange:o( As I have said before, one could drive right across the country and see power that looks like what is in yer own backyard, save for different initials….to me it is so sad to see GEXR shed their distinctive ‘who knows what you are going to see’ image of the past.

  2. Kind of cool though Arnold as it is a GP40X slug set. Don’t see many GP40′s with SD45 type radiators!!

  3. Yes, Jazzy; I had seen these on the SL&A as well remember 3806 on the Southern as 7000.

  4. Arnold, while I agree with you that the changes are somewhat drastic paint wise and well, just another incarnation of the orange “Borg” the very positive change is well – matching paint and new motive power – the old stuff being quite tired and broken :)

It’s the ‘third era’ on GEXR – the second being the Rail America/Railtex Guelph sub expansion – and the first was the original GEXR.

The latter being what I think those old enough would say is their fondest GEXR period. I missed the era but at least had the good fortune to photograph one of the gp9′s in original GEXR paint.

I welcome this new orange era and very much enjoy the variety we’re getting.

Heck Otter Valley just released a model of GEXR 3393….. so the fans have something to buy :)

  5. BTW the Maple Syrup from Belton is amazing – bought 4L on the day of this photo and will be eating it till March!
