Caption: Assiniboine Jct. Mile 0.00 on CN's Assiniboine Sub. is a busy place this morning with CN 5626 sitting idle in the yard waiting for its next assignment, VIA 692 (VIA 8229 Chateau Viger sleeping car) holding the main in front of the Canora, SK station, and a moving CN freight in the background. Other interesting sights in the photo are a conductor walking back to the station, tall yard lighting poles, derails, restricted clearance sign, wind sock, station name sign, mile board, and some switch stands, several with unique targets.

The unique switch targets are ALDON Switch Cube Indicators. The symbol and colour indicate how the switch is lined. The Green Arrow pointing upward indicates the switch is lined for the Normal Position.
Neat picture Paul, like the end of the Chateau sleeper with the “upper and lower” roomette windows, the yard and freight train in the back ground. Am trying to figure out the track layout, is that the start of the HBR curving off to the right ? John
Good morning John, Canora is at Mile 124.9 of the CN Togo Sub., and Mile 0.00 of the CN Assiniboine Sub. That is the CN Assiniboine Sub. curving off to the right which my train VIA 692 just came in on. The freight train moving from left to right in the background is coming off the CN Margo Sub. onto the Assiniboine Sub. It had been waiting patiently to make the meet with VIA 692 at Canora. The connection from CN to the HBR is at Mile 83.4 of the CN Turnberry Sub. at The Pas South. There were lots of Junctions to view on this wonderful journey from Winnipeg to Churchill.
