As part of its commitment to the city, the Peterborough Utilities Commission operates the Riverview Park Zoo, including the ever-popular miniature railway, which uses a gasoline-powered locomotive to pull the train across the Otonabee River on a short loop of narrow-gauge track. The train is seen at the Riverview Park station before the first trip of the morning.

  1. I didn’t know this existed. While I shy from operations like this, fact is, it’s on rails – it counts!

I’m still waiting to see more mining and construction railway uploads to this site – Eric May found a brilliant one a few years ago in Toronto – someone has go to get this operating:

Lots of odd stuff on rails if you look hard enough.

  2. I was unaware of this railroad. The locomotive looks an awful lot like one I remember seeing at Upper Canada Village many years ago. Is it still operating?

  3. I visited and rode this many years ago. What I really liked about it is the ride goes out of sight plus you cannot tell where you are going as it makes its way. Actually like a real train ride. Unlike most park trains.
