As I remember this photograph was taken on nice Sunday in Sept. 1981. Which Sunday! Can't remember! I spent around 2 hours at the site & never saw any CP employees. This allowed me to walk around with a little freedom, but as per my policy I kept off the equipment, & only took photographs. The idea of the trip was to photograph the site before the ongoing Expo 86 construction erased any more evidence of the CPR Drake St yards being there. The locomotives in the picture are photographed from the dark side because the good side was blocked by steam era oil house. Sadly there was so much more to see, & not enough film to capture it.

  1. There often was enough film, but never enough of that stuff in the wallet to acquire it. Nice shot!! A favourite style of switcher. Every one of us wishes we took far more photos than we did.
