As I have mentioned quite a few times before, Niagara Falls was one of my favourite places to shoot trains. It always puzzled me that very few others shared this view. Probably one of the factors was most of the trains ran either late day or under darkness.
This example was shot just before it would have been too dark due to all the foliage to get a decent shot. Sunset was not far off. CP 6039 and 4248 have just crossed the border and are seen at mile 1 rolling along parallel to Palmer Av in the falls. On approach to Clifton Hill. I have wondered too if there were any surly engineers who took great delight in tying up all the tourist traffic with their 60+ car trains. Hope not. But then, it couldn't be helped. (This rail line was pulled up in 2000)

  1. Nice image! You can really feel the pleasant mood of the evening.

  2. You noticed!!! I did, too.

  3. This image is amazingly sharp! Are you still scanning prints? If so I’m quite impressed.

  4. Thank you, Mr. Smith. I have been scanning slides and, in this case, negatives, since I don’t know when now.
The Epson scanner is far better than the old Canon I had that only did prints.
And then I have your Head Man touching up the scans as well.
Old 35MM negs and slides leave a lot to be desired in many cases, but what you are viewing here is a scanned 120 medium format neg; which is 3x a 35MM neg.
Nice to impress a Smith once in a while. I’m pleased. :o )
