Another case of the early bird gets the worm. At what time does the light hit the rails at Bayview Junction? This is when you should plan to arrive by, just before so you can set up in case something is close. And on this day, only Bill Miller and I were there to witness whatever was coming - hoping to see the business train cars on 422 later in the morning - little did we know what was coming.

Upon arrival at the crack of dawn we were met with an eastbound lined through Bayview from Hamilton, being this early we did not know what to expect. As the train approached all you could hear was the familiar growling of an EMD 16 cylinder 567 as the train pulled a hundred plus cars through the grade out of Hamilton Yard. Then the business cars were seen behind the power - suprise ! - out of the shadow into the beautiful early morning light -. Click! The time is 0628 and light has been on the rails for 10 minutes.

Upon arrival at the crack of dawn we were met with an eastbound lined through Bayview from Hamilton, being this early we did not know what to expect. 422 was never this early. As the train approached all you could hear was the familiar growling of an EMD 16 cylinder 567 as the train pulled a hundred plus cars through the grade out of Hamilton Yard, the EMD engine clearly making much more noise than the leading GE. Then the business cars were seen behind the power - surprise ! - out of the shadow into the beautiful early morning light - Click! The time is 0628 and light has been on the rails for 10 minutes. This was Extra 422, A422 would roll by at the usual 10 or so in the morning. The boys arriving on-time for A422 were quite disapointed to know they had missed the business cars :)
