Caption: An unknown GO 900-series APCU (former ONR FP7 convered into a HEP cab car) leads a short Richmond Hill line train northbound on CN's Bala Sub just south of CN Rosedale, as seen from on top of the Bloor Viaduct one sunny Summer evening in 1979.
The train is heading northbound through Toronto's Don Valley out of the city on CN's Bala Subdivision, that runs parallel to Bayview Avenue on the right. Visible on the left is the namesake Don River, and on the other side the Lower Don Trail, CP's Don Branch (Belleville Sub) and the Don Valley Parkway. Beyond that is Riverdale Park East, and Broadview Avenue at the top of the hill. The rounded building in the distance is the old Riverdale Hospital (now Bridgepoint Hospital, and the old building pictured has been demolished and replaced). The red building behind with the smoke stacks? The famed R.L. Hearn Generation Station in the portlands.
