Caption: An IM with CN 5652 leading had an interesting helper. A shortage in power brings paint schemes to places you would rarely, if ever, see them. I was happy to add a warbonnet into my collection, even if it was a little weathered and rusty. The sun visor even had large rust spots. For that matter, the only things that looked new were the snubber shocks on the axles and the hoses between units. Loco's in this state seem to tell more of a story than a freshly painted and re-built unit.

Definitely the discounted rental.
A sad warbonnet, even worse than some of the “fadebonnet” GE units.
Great comments guys, . Speaking of warbonnets, this surely fits the bill to be called a “battle wagon”. LOL
The Santa Fe’s I would have loved to snap a photo of would have been the GP60′s in an AB or ABB configuration. Even to be by the tracks when they went flying by at 60. Exhilarating.
As bad as these units look, I sure do miss the colourful units and lashups from this time.
