  2. Curious what the shed at top right would be… MOW? Switchmands shed? Or perhaps LE&N related (the crossing would have been nearby)

  3. Love to know where the photo was taken in Simcoe, as it my adopted home town?

  4. Photo taken as on the map supplied; just up from Hwy 3 on #24, and maybe 100yds to the west. I checked this area out last time in Simcoe and it is almost impossible to pinpoint anything due to the fact evidence of the railroad has been obliterated. Steve; not sure of the building in question; perhaps track-car shed out of sight of lead unit; but probably MOW shed as there were many of them along the way. And so elaborately built considering their purpose!

  5. Beautiful shot! I heard this station was later moved and used as a gas bar in town, but when i went to look for it in ever found it so not sure if it survived.

  6. In reference to Stephen’s question about the LE&N crossing, I do recall on west edge of town (1/2-1 mile) a stone viaduct UNDER the Cayuga Sub. filled in with rubble, and an obvious right of way. That must have been the LE&N. Now this was 20+ years ago that I saw this, so maybe someone else can confirm this.

  7. The MOW buildings are indeed to the right of this picture by the Volkswagon. The train could be an early N&W 28 waiting on a westbound N&W 91. Simcoe had a long passing siding and was used extensively for meets.

  9. The LE&N did indeed cross under the Cayuga near this shot. It is east of 24 though. Not on the west end of town. The bridge over the LE&N is still there. Same look as the bridge that was over 24. That green colour. Tagged now. Triple track I believe.

    Might have been the Port Dover and Lake Huron you saw on the west end of town.
