Always enjoyed an MLW leader. Here is M-636 #2306 leading a pair of GP-40-2 wide cabs around the bend at Bayview, heading westward. Trailing units are CN 9500 and 9652; both also now gone from the roster. All the M-636s have been gone 20 years at least, the GP 9500 went to MBTA (Mass Bay Transit) as their 1118 in 1997, and the 9652 in 2000 went to Guilford as their MEC 512. I miss the days back when we were welcome to park the car, wander around (NOT over the rails) and enjoy our hobby within limits of the Junction.

  1. Fabulous image Arnold. Really miss the old Bayview Jct. If it was too hot, one could take refuge in the shade of the pine trees. One could also park for FREE in the Botanical Gardens parking lot! (shouldn’t it still be free to area tax payers!). Please keep the nostalgia coming.

  2. Thanks for the cheery note, Stuart. And yes, I never understood if you paid taxes to maintain the park you shouldn’t have to pay to use the flippin’ place. Talk about Double Dipping!!
