Caption: Although this image was taken 3 months after the TH&B was incorporated into the CP, it was still TH&B to me. This overview of the Aberdeen Yard is interesting. For viewers not local, that is Aldershot in the distance on the other side of Hamilton Harbour. On the left is the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, a noted landmark; and that is King St (Hwy 8) running east/west in front. The ramp is to Hwy 403. In the foreground, the old Aberdeen Yard looks full. Of note is that green coach car...I was not aware of it back then.(reporting mark??) The old yard is 'dead-ended' now; the track used to continue to Brantford until a washout doomed the line back in 1990. On the right side in the image is the old TH&B shop buildings, the roundhouse, turntable and some CP power. These buildings were razed in early 1992.

Very nice. I only attempted as shot from the ‘overlook’ once as it’s very very VERY grown in..

I doubt you can even do your angle without a drone now..
There looks to have been lots of box car business in the late 80′s. It was predominantly CP traffic.
Great view, thanks young man.
The coach looks to be exBN but you’d maybe have to ask Lance Brown about it.
AND is that the CP Mikado coupled to the right of the coach and box car ??
Awh, there it is. Thanks BEM’r. I coulda sworn it was on the south side of the yard previously and I wondered why I could not find it in the pic. This is the one that went to Depew, I believe. (X-Hambone brickyard resident?)
A Hamilton treasure. I can’t believe how much has changed.
The green painted passenger car could be a NYC car now in maintenance of way service. NYC painted their M of W service cars green and perhaps this one had been loaned to the TH&B. And nice that the TH&B coaling tower can be made out on the right. As always, well done Mr. Mooney.
Thanks, railwayguy: This was a really nice overview and I am very sorry I didn’t take the opportunity more often to scan the land.
