Ahh the days when I could walk into to the "depot" in Sarnia, sign a release and have the walk of the place. Pictured is CSX 2799 at the fuel tank at the Sarnia Engine terminal. At the time of this photo CSX still had about 4 or 5 units assigned to town, now they're down to two and there doesn't seem to be any mechanical staff on site anymore.

This diesel fuel tank only holds 300 gallons, so it must be for MOW equipment or something else. I'm under the impression, subject to correction, the Sarnia terminal had a direct line from Imperial Oil for fuel.

  1. Yes, I believe they did have a direct fuel line, metered of course at the head.
Same with plant steam, there was a separate C&O line to heat the Clifford Street building and the enginehouse.
