  2. That is just incredible….Brandt units today do no justice to this…I want to go back !

  3. Got to love the pasenger seat out in front of the Diesel engine. Would have been a great view from there looking up the track. Looks like Walt as they used the Burrow for road crossings gates and block signals.

  4. Interesting the cupola windows are covered in the van. Wonder if it has something to do with being assigned to MoW service.

  5. There was a pub in there, so great to stop in for a break from railfanning, maybe even a window seat. Also a Model Railroad in the building behind! Perfect.

  6. Thanks for the MOW equipment shot Arnold. :-) That’s a 7 1/2 ton capacity Burro Model 30 crane. Likely sporting a running number in the CP 2503-0x series. It has yet to be upgraded to roller bearings, as it still wears the journal boxes it was built with. The foreman (white hard hat) is sitting on the cranes air reservoir. A very dangerous location to be perched, especially on a forward movement. Those long shovel type control levers visible through the front cab window were replaced with much smaller air control valves on the next generation 12 1/2 ton capacity Burro Model 40 cranes.

  7. Thanks, Paul. I thought that guy was a bit foolish sitting up front like that. But a lot of safety measures were rather slack back then.
