Caption: After running all afternoon back and forth between Toronto and Bramalea on the "Bramalea Flip", GO F59PH 538 blasts through Halwest with equipment move E864 (previously running in service as 281 to downtown Brampton, which we hopped off of at Bramalea) deadheading at track speed back down the Weston Sub to get to Toronto Union Station for its PM rush hour run up the Stouffville line. The train on the Halton-Weston connecting track on the right is CN #577, the daily transfer to CP West Toronto/Lambton Yards to interchange freight traffic between the two railways. It would usually be timed so as not to interfere with the afternoon Bramalea trains on the Weston Sub (many portions of which were still single track at the time), but sometimes SNAFUs did happen.
As per an old newspaper clipping in my collection, afternoon train service to Brampton (Bramalea Station) began on April 29th 2002 with 6 new midday trains and one early morning one. Most of the afternoon trains were cancelled effective April 1st 2010 and replaced with buses, to allow more time for work to be done on the West Toronto grade separation project. Service was gradually reinstated after completion, and today the Kitchener (former Georgetown) line hosts afternoon train service between Mount Pleasant and Toronto.

And these are still working the Kitchener line as far as Mount Pleasant now..
L7 consists..
Back in 2005 they were running a short L6 on the afternoon train, eventually growing to L7, L8 and an L10 before the service was replaced by buses.
Also note – jointed rail! A number of sections of the Weston Sub were still jointed rail back then, and it was fun to ride over in the front when the cab car lead. Now with the Metrolinx expansion it’s likely all replaced by CWR.
I remember riding it, was a rough section not too sidimiksr to gexr
