After reading a post on line last night regarding Genesee Wyoming making a deal to trade a large group of GP40 into MEI Industries in return for rebuilt GP38s, my chase of GEXR 581 today seemed fitting. I'm not sure at this time which GP40 units will be traded in but their is a good possibility that old RLK 4095 will be one of them. The one time CN unit always seemed at home on the former CN lines out of Stratford and if she leaves the property, she will surely be missed. Today she handled train 581 alone and traveled to Clinton then onto Hensal to work the elevators there. I've alway liked this old bridge east of Mitchel, hard to find one these days without hand rails obstructing the shot.

  1. Great shot, and awesome location!

  2. I wouldn’t worry about the GP40 rebuild program. GEXR needs all the motive power they can get, so they’d have to send something new to replace each GP40 sent away..

Considernig SOR/GEXR have at least three..

  3. I can’t provide the intimate details but there are 2 “new” GP38-2 planned for Ontario assignments – one for Hamilton/Nanticoke, one for North Bay; probably another couple will be added ‘ down the road ‘
