Caption: After getting a good soaker from falling through the snow covered ice, I was able to snap this shot of CP T-28 returning from a morning of interchange work with NS in Oakwood Yard in Detroit, MI. T-28 had a nice colourful lashup sporting paint from 3 of the 7 North American Class 1 railroads; CN, CP, and BNSF. In this picture, they are shoving their train into Windsor Yard. Windsor is a pretty inefficient area for CP as evident by a quick look on a maps website. The city is set up for ferry service and the tunnel was only really meant to be used by trains on the now defunct CASO Sub. Road trains that have work to do in Windsor Yard must make a cut at Dougall Ave, pull up to Lakeshore Jct (McDougall Ave), then shove on the original main into the yard. The same steps have to be done only in reverse on their way out of th e yard after finishing their work. Hopefully they'll figure something out in the near future to make Windsor a more efficient area on their network.
