After a brief stop to unload groceries and other essential supplies, a yell from the second engineer is my signal to climb back on board VIA #693 The Hudson Bay at HBR Thicket Portage, MB Mile 185.0 Hudson Bay Railway Thicket Sub. on March 13, 2023.
And yes, it is as cold as it looks! Brrr!

  1. Delay of train caused by railfan getting pictures. Love it!!

  2. Close the door and o o to go. No waiting for stragglers.

  3. The VIA crews for both directions of my Winnipeg to Churchill & return trip were a great bunch of folks.
Even if the stop was for only a minute or two to entrain or detrain a local at one of the many remote locations, they were kind enough to let me step off and snap ‘a few quick pictures’.
I made it a point not to abuse the privilege they afforded me.
I also wanted to make sure I promoted: “VIA Rail train departs on-time … Cause unknown” . :-)

  4. Your ongoing journey is wonderful Paul! Keep them coming! – Ken

  5. Thanks Ken. I’m off to Churchill again on the 25th of this month. More pics to come. :-)

  6. I really look forward to seeing them Paul!
