Caption: About time I posted another railroad station shot. I've always loved this particular place. Classic old style, all wood and living quarters built in. Note the red saltbox out front. Don't know when this station was built, (oldest photo I have seen dates 1905) but the Petitcodiac and Elgin Branch Railroad Company was the first thru here in 1876; a northward line off to Havelock was laid in 1885 but good money was never really made. It was pulled up in 1993 and the Intercolonial took over the main line in 1919.
When this photo was taken, the station was served by two RDC powered trains each way daily. By the mid-80s it was just the one, with the VIA 'Atlantic', while seen, did not stop.
With the so-called 'progress' on the railroad scene, the building was considered redundant and torn down in the late 1980s. I haven't the actual year, and am curious.
It is a shame this village has lost a landmark.

What a nice scene. Too bad its gone.
Arnold, great picture, great view, what a gem ! Such a pity that it no longer exists. Thanks for recording another piece of Canadian railway history, John
