A yard job working Sarnia today, with a remote-operated SD60 on point. This was my first time seeing one of the remote SD60s. I was a bit torn when watching this job work the yard: I quite enjoy SD60s but I am never overly fond of beltpack units. I'd also much rather see 5440 out on the mainline than toiling away in the yard, but then again, it is better than not seeing it at all.

  1. What car is that 4 in?

  2. An ARMN refrigerated boxcar

  3. Trust me. The 5400 SD60′s are way better in yard service than pulling tonnage on the main. All those years in coal service on the Powder River Basin took its toll. A shiny new coat of paint did not make them great units for the crews.

  4. What do you think of the 2000s and 2100s, ngineered?

  5. Nice shot James, CP is using some SD60′s in yard service as well albeit mu’ed to a beltpack equipped GP38-2.

  6. Thanks Paul. I did notice one such combination last August when I was out in Thunder Bay. No shortage of CP yard jobs to be found there!

  7. @CN9317. 2000/2100 are actually worse than the SD60′s!
