A trio of SD40s lead an eastbound freight a couple of miles out of Sudbury Ontario on August 3, 1987. CP 5501 and 5553 lead leased SD40 HLCX 5076 which began life as MP 776, then to GATX 5076 and finally to HLCX 5076.

    Great photo. Those are great looking CP Rail units, I always liked that paint scheme. Is that the Inco Super Stack peeking out above the lead unit?

    Yes Terry, that is Inco’s famous Super Stack!!! With CP having so many SD40-2s, it was great to see 3 standard SD40s, including the leased unit, together on a train. Don

    Looks like a flat of wheel sets first up behind the power. Saw the SD40′s and other CP units many times driving to and from Westree at the Hwy 144 crossing west of Cartier or sitting tight up to the light at the west end of Cartier. CP had some great lash-ups.
