Caption: A tale of two bridges. Where the CN St-Hyacinthe sub crosses the Lachine Canal in Montreal (just a bit south of Central Station), there are two bridges. The one at left was a swing bridge that CN freights formerly used to access the Port of Montreal. It has been locked in place and out of use for about two decades. The double-tracked bridge at right (once a lift bridge) is busier than ever, with dozens of movements a day, such as here, with VIA 918 leading VIA 55 towards its eventual destination of Toronto.
