Caption: A short VIA #55 has just entered the Smiths Falls Subdivision after passing through Federal, the junction with the Beachburg Sub. In a few minutes the train will stop at the suburban Fallowfield station which serves Ottawa's west end, where it is due to depart at 15:26. The Smiths Falls Sub was originally the mainline of the Canadian Northern Railway. A major CNoR yard and shops were once located behind me at this location. A few years ago, the original turntable pit was rediscovered, excavated, and documented, then buried again under the parking lot of a new hotel.
