A rather interesting CP #523 snakes thru downtown Hamilton past the Art Deco-style TH&B station in this image taken from overhead where the line goes thru Hunter St. tunnel. Nice power set: CP 5752, CRL 0608, SOO 6608 and CR 5299. (The CRL is Conrail Leasing, an arm of the CR system) Note the area being readied for increased GO service; trainset staging area under construction as well as the old station restoration, evident by all the scaffolding on the left side of the building in this view.

  1. Wholy Crap…that’s 20 years ago! Nice angle for the photographer to stand.

  2. Great Shot! I agree with Cdntrainphotog…nice angle.

Interesting story – I am (not) proud to say that one of my brother’s friends dared me to walk with him through that tunnel….talk about butterflies in the stomach just praying that no train would come while we walked through, then back again. Somehow he thought this was a great idea…and I somehow agreed with him…20 years later I think “what the heck was I thinking???: LOL
